Please make your $100 donation today for any of the horses below by simply choosing the horse you want to sponsor. Then click “Other Amount," enter $100, and do not check the box that says “Make This Recurring" (unless you want to sponsor for a year for them). SPONSOR A PERMANENT RESIDENT
Our permanent residents are horses that are not adoptable, either because of advanced age
or permanent injury, and their care is fully funded by monthly donations and sponsorships.
Without donations and sponsorships, we cannot rescue horses. More importantly, we cannot

BRITE DECISION (Brite)
BRIGHT FUTURES FARM'S "FOUNDER"
BRITE DECISION (High Brite – Early Decision)
Registered Thoroughbred Gelding
16.1 Hands, Foaled: 03/10/1992
Bev Dee’s mission to save horses from abuse and neglect began in 1999 with Brite Decision. When Bev saw Brite for the first time, he walked slowly from the back of his stall to greet her, and despite his obvious pain, he was gentle and friendly. Bev connected with him immediately and knew there was something really special about him. When she asked about him, she was told that two veterinarians had recommended euthanasia and Bev adopted him on the spot. It took 36 long months of constant vet care and rehabilitation, but Brite was finally healed enough to be pasture sound. Today, Brite is happy and healthy and is the heart and soul of the rescue efforts at Bright Futures Farm. Read the full Story Of Brite on the About page.

FAST MARKET (CAN) (Markie)
SON OF THE GREAT SECRETARIAT
FAST MARKET (CAN) (Secretariat – Tina’s Ten)
Registered Thoroughbred Gelding
15.3 Hands, Foaled: 02/04/1986
Fast Market (Markie) is the oldest living son of the legendary racehorse, Secretariat. In his racing career, Markie won over a quarter million dollars, his most notable victory being Canada’s Grade II Puss-N-Boots Stakes. In 1996, the New York Post ran a feature story on Markie’s last race, and in 2010, Markie attended the premier of the movie, Secretariat, with his buddy, Arturo First, a grandson of Triple Crown winner, Seattle Slew. Markie has a tremendous resemblance to his sire and a fantastic personality too. His favorite thing to do is graze all day with his buddies, Brite and George. He used to entertain himself by pulling the tails of the other horses, but now enjoys himself by rolling every morning and evening in the sandbox before he enters the barn! Be sure to follow Markie’s antics on his Facebook page!

TRUSTED COMPANY (Company)
FIERY DAUGHTER OF SECRETARIAT
TRUSTED COMPANY
(Secretariat – Star Snoop by Stage Door Johnny)
Registered Thoroughbred Mare, Foaled: 02/14/1989
Trusted Company had been living a quiet life in New Jersey for a while, and well under the radar until circumstances forced her to find a new home or be euthanized. A stranger who is now a friend, searched the Internet for “Secretariat," and Patricia McQueen’s calendar came up as one of the first hits in her search. She read the information and contacted Patricia, who then contacted Bev here at Bright Futures Farm. Trusted Company was moved to a private farm in New Jersey with the friend who is responsible for saving her life, but on March 17, 2019 – WONDERFUL NEWS! – Trusted Company traveled to Pennsylvania to her new, forever home here at Bright Futures Farm!
Although we are not equipped financially to take on another horse, we had to give Company a home because so many people supported her brother, Markie, Secretariat’s son. We are hoping that we can get the same support for Trusted Company!
Please consider sponsoring Company! You can also show your support by buying a photo, halter or mug by clicking here.

SENILITY (Lilli)
RACEHORSE AND ACCOMPLISHED HUNTER
SENILITY (Sanill – Torn Curtain)
Registered Thoroughbred Mare
16 Hands, Foaled: 1997
Lilli was a poor performer as a racehorse and after her last race, she was sent to the Sugarcreek Livestock Auction with two other Thoroughbreds. Susan Wagner of Equine Advocates out-bid the kill buyers, purchasing all three horses for $2,550. After Lilli was rescued, she went on to live a wonderful life. In Florida, Lilli was schooled to play polo and was a hunter, routinely winning Reserve Grand Champion. Lillie’s owner, Alle, became ill in 2011 and arranged for her beloved horses to retire to Bright Futures Farm. Since Alle’s passing in 2012, all of her children-Lilli, Free, Luiga and Chloe (the dog who won’t listen)-have had their forever home at Bright Futures Farm and are all safe and thriving.

FREE TO SIN (Free Free)
SKILLED JUMPER AND BELOVED FRIEND
FREE TO SIN (Fly So Free – Naive)
Registered Thoroughbred Gelding
16.1 Hands, Foaled: 2002
Free was bred in Kentucky, and was sired by Fly So Free, the 1990 2-year old champion and sire of Captain Steve, winner of the 6 million dollar Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) in 2001.
Free had a less than stellar career at the track and was up for sale when my friend, Alle Simmons was looking for another “Fly So Free" after she lost her beloved Gunner (Top Guns Fly Free) in an accident. Bev found Free in Ohio, and after talking with his trainer, Alle purchased him in 2008. He was a skilled jumper and a beloved friend. Upon Alle’s death in 2012, Free moved to Bright Futures Farm where he is now a permanent resident.

CATCH THIS T (Foreign Survivor – Take the Avenue)
Registered Thoroughbred Gelding
16.1 Hands, Foaled: 1993
Catch This T (T) was in an accident with a truck in 1999, was starved four years ago, and then contracted EPM. He has neuropathy and requires chiropractic, massage and acupuncture treatments to stay healthy and comfortable. “T" has been through more than can be imagined, but he has survived it all. This year he’s dappled. Dapples are a sign of good health and balance within, and it is heartwarming to finally see T healthy!

FRICK
FRIEND AND GUIDE TO FRACK AND LILLI
FRICK
Leopard Appaloosa Gelding, 15.3 Hands, Foaled: 1984
Frick arrived at Bright Futures Farm with his buddy, Frack. Both were at a riding academy and when Frack lost most of his sight, they were to be sold at auction. Frick, the sighted one, had a chance at a private home, but Frack would probably have been sent to be slaughtered. We took them in and they spent their days together in a special stall and paddock. When Frack died, Frick made friends with Lady, our blind mare. He is an exceptional buddy and protector to Lady, staying close to her and guiding her at our farm.
Frick is a special needs senior. He has no molars left and can only eat soaked, pelleted food, and soaked beet pulp pellets. His diet is supplemented with rice bran oil and a powdered weight builder to add the calories he is missing because he has no forage in his diet. Frick’s care is expensive, so your sponsorship will help keep him healthy in his golden years!

ALBERT
A SENIOR WITH A VIBRANT PERSONALITY
ALBERT
Quarter Horse Gelding
16 Hands, Foaled: 1988
Albert arrived at Bright Futures in November, 2017. He was owned by a family and taught all of the kids to ride. When their lives changed, as happens sometimes, Albert had nowhere to go. He is now a permanent resident of Bright Futures Farm. He is a real gem with a vibrant personality-very vocal and very opinionated.
Albert is also a special needs senior. He has only a few molars left and therefore, he cannot chew hay. He can only eat pelleted food and soaked beet pulp pellets. His diet is also supplemented with rice bran oil and a powdered weight builder to add the extra calories he needs. Like Frick, your sponsorship helps keep Albert healthy in his golden years.

GOMER
WANDERED INTO A WONDERFUL HOME
GOMER
Appaloosa Gelding
15.1 Hands, Foaled: 1994
Twelve years ago, Gomer and his buddy, Gus wandered onto the property Bright Futures Farm calls home. They were skinny and unkempt. Our friends, who owned the property at the time, nursed them back to health and they became part of the family and herd. Gomer and Gus stayed with the farm when BFF bought it, and Gomer is now a permanent resident. Over the last few years, he’s lost sight in both eyes but it hasn’t limited his activities. He still goes out with his buds, and comes and goes from his stall, usually on his own, and sometimes with a little nudge once he is pointed in the right direction. He has adapted well to his recent total loss of sight and is a kind, gentle, old soul.

GUS
WANDERED INTO A WONDERFUL HOME
GUS
Grey Roan Appaloosa Gelding
15.2 Hands, Foaled: 1994
Gus wandered onto this property with Gomer years ago. He was very well schooled and could be ridden by an advanced beginner, so we thought he’d do well in a home. We adopted him into one home and he did not do well there. He lost weight and was clearly stressed. We tried a different home with young adults thinking that the additional attention from teenagers would make him happy. It didn’t. So, he came back to BFF, where he is thriving. While he never appeared to show it before we attempted to rehome him, he is obviously very attached to Gomer. Since they can’t be separated and Gomer is almost completely blind, they will remain at BFF together.

GODON
A BEAUTIFUL BOY AND BARN FAVORITE
GODON
Warmblood Gelding
17.2 Hands, Foaled: 1997
Godon is a beautiful boy that is very well-schooled and has impeccable manners, both on the ground and under saddle. He is initially timid, but gets along well with other horses. He is very protective of Lilli and doesn’t like any other horse (except Brite) showing any interest in her. He will always defer to Brite. Godon is a very uncomplicated horse and while he has always enjoyed having a job, years of hard work, and injuries at some point have let to the decision to retire him permanently. His rear suspensories have dropped and he now wears eggbar shoes in the back for support. He is a former Gran Prix jumper and was competing at 4th level Dressage prior to his injuries. He is very kind and while slow to accept it, loves attention.

WILD MIDNIGHT (George)
A GORGEOUS EX-SHOW JUMPER
WILD MIDNIGHT (George)
(Wild Wonder – Midnight Cinderella)
Thoroughbred Gelding
16.2 Hands, Foaled: 05/08/2002
George had a lackluster race career and went on to be a formidable opponent in show jumping. George came to BFF through a mutual friend. He continued to jump once adopted, but developed large masses of melanomas in various parts of his body including inside his lips. For now, they are manageable and we are thankful for that. He does require at least two visits with the dentist each year to be sure his teeth don’t develop any points or hooks, and he is on Cimetidine for the remainder of his life in an attempt to slow their growth. Please consider sponsoring George. His additional monthly expenses because of the melanomas is $150.

ELLIE
A SWEET GIRL THAT LOVES CHESTNUTS!
ELLIE
Saddlebred Mare, 16.1 Hands, Foaled: 2000
Ellie came to us originally in 2002 as a two year old. She was purchased at an auction by a good Samaritan and we were asked to take her and find her a home. She was timid and sweet, tall and lanky. An older woman was looking for a companion for her Arabian mare whose friend had just passed away and Ellie settled in and became her best friend. When the woman passed, her husband quickly wanted nothing to do with the horses. Ellie had been there for sixteen years as a pet, never ridden and with an injury to her LH hock. She was sent to another home that was a very bad choice and was starved. The only right thing the new owner did was call us so we could get her before she died. She returned to us after 17 years away with a body condition of 2 out of 9, and as of July 2019, she’s gained most of her weight back. She’s very sweet and very attached to all of the chestnuts at the farm!

SPONSOR A SENIOR THIS SUMMER
Trusted Company and Albert are two senior horses that live at BFF and both need sponsors this summer! Each horse requires special care, including pelleted food,
rice bran oil, and a powdered weight builder, so will you please help these two
sweet seniors with a one-time gift or a recurring monthly sponsorship?
TRUSTED COMPANY
Trusted Company has been living a quiet live in New Jersey and well under the radar until circumstances forced her to find a new home or be euthanized. A stranger who is now a friend searched the Internet for “Secretariat," and found Patricia McQueen’s calendar in her search. She read the information and contacted Patricia, who then contacted Bev. Even though we are not equipped financially to take on another horse, we had to give her an opportunity. We know how many people have supported Markie because he is Secretariat’s son. We are hoping that we can get that kind of support for Company. She is living on a private farm in New Jersey and her board is $450 per month. We will be giving “Company memorabilia away for various levels of monthly sponsorship and one time donations. Help us keep this beautiful girl healthy and happy for the remainder of her years and be part of Team Company with a sponsorship!
