Bright Futures Farm is an equine charity whose primary focus is re-homing off the track Thoroughbreds...horses that can no longer race due to disinterest or injury…horses unwanted by their owners and sent to auction where most are purchased for slaughter.  Our dedication has grown to include providing sanctuary for older horses that are unwanted after their "useful years" are over, including older stallions that cannot be gelded due to the risk of complications.

We are always in need of foster homes.  When you foster a horse you help us save one more from harm.  Fostering expenses are tax-deductible.  If you have room, please ask us about our foster program.

Too Lucern Vail, Royal Glowing, Dial Nekia & an unidentified very pregnant Thoroughbred mare.

Royal Glowing and Too Lucern Vail along with two other horses, a mare and gelding were donated to Horse Camp, USA in Frankfort KY on 1/24/10.  The owner had the means to keep all four horses, but thought that they would be a nice addition to a children's camp. All four were donated with the understanding that if the camp no longer wanted or couldn't keep them, the owner would take them back.  Just twelve days after they arrived, Royal Glowing and Too Lucern Vail were found at Sugarcreek Livestock Auction in Sugarcreek OH.  Once identified, the former owner was contacted and said they would take them back...whatever the cost.  The former owner immediately contacted Jessica Lewis at Horse Camp USA asking about her other two horses.   She was told they were both there.  It was later found that the gelding was at a new home in KY, and his former owner has been in touch with those individuals and he will remain there.  The third mare was delivered back to the former owner by Ricky Lewis, Jessica's husband.  An investigation is in progress.

All safe.

While at the Sugarcreek auction on 2/5/10, Tiffanie also found a very pregnant Thoroughbred mare that we have not been able to identify yet.  The wonderful individual who took their two mares back, also took Dial Nekia and our unidentified mare, whom they have named Coco Chanel. Photos of Coco below.  Coco was confirmed pregnant on 2/8/10 and estimated to be due around June 2010.

Classic leaving for Putnamville 10.27.09

Today, October 27, 2009, Classic Order left for his new home at the Putnamville Correctional Facility in Greencastle Indiana.

His rescue and ultimate journey home has been a wonderful group effort by many organizations.

Thank you to the following organizations who helped pull this wonderful boy to safety so he'd have a well deserved second chance:

Sugarcreek Equine Rescue Group (Kathy, Rachael, Rena, Amanda, Bev).  Kathy and Rachael spotted him and pulled him, Rena fostered him.

Hoosier Park and Brian Elmore.  I contacted Brian asking if they could help us with the purchase of him to save him.  Brian, without hesitation, said yes.

Friends of Ferdinand.  Sarah Busbice contacted The Tony Steward Foundation and told them of Classic Order's plight.  Sarah has been an instrumental help throughout the rehoming of Classic.

The Tony Stewart Foundation was committed to getting Classic Order transported "back home" to Putnamville Correctional Facility in Indiana.  The Tony Stewart Foundation generously paid to move him home.

Putnamville Correctional Facility and the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation for giving Classic a new home.
