Bright Futures Farm is an equine charity whose primary focus is re-homing off the track Thoroughbreds...horses that can no longer race due to disinterest or injury…horses unwanted by their owners and sent to auction where most are purchased for slaughter.  Our dedication has grown to include providing sanctuary for older horses that are unwanted after their "useful years" are over, including older stallions that cannot be gelded due to the risk of complications.

We are always in need of foster homes.  When you foster a horse you help us save one more from harm.  Fostering expenses are tax-deductible.  If you have room, please ask us about our foster program.

Quarter Horse

Beta

1992 buckskin Quarter Horse/Quarter Pony.  Standing at 14.2 hh she qualifies to be both.

Beta is a very sweet girl.  She gets along with other horses, tacks easily, and almost always stands to mount and dismount.  She is a real professional under saddle.   She's very willing and doesn't "spook".   Beta would be a great first horse for an amateur/novice rider and a super choice for Pony Club.  Beta's favorite gait is "trot", and she had great "brakes", so you do need to know how to cue a horse to ride Beta.

She is a FUN HORSE TO RIDE!

 Oz

2000 bay QH cross gelding. 15.2  hands. Star

Oz is beautiful and a willing worker.  Great personality.  He will do whatever you ask of him.  Great at flatwork, on trails, or in the Dressage Arena, you can always count on him to give his very best.  He has competed at Dressage and won several ribbons.  He is used to showing and trail riding.  He's very good on trails with other horses.  Has not been ridden on trails alone, so an intermediate rider should take him on a lone ride first to see if he's nervous.  Oz can be ridden by a novice with supervision.

Oz's has been placed with P. Allen and Pray Road Therapeutic Riding Program a NARHA certified facility in NY

True Steppin Mirage (Nick)

(Sonny's Big Step-Solar Image)

2000 Sorrel Quarter Horse gelding.  16 hands.  Star, stripe, RH sock

Nick was rescued by a friend, Kari and two of her friends from the facility she boards her horses at.  Nick was sold by his former owner to a 'dealer' and ended up at Thistledown racetrack.  The new "owner" had told Kari they would not be taking him with them when they left for the season.  Knowing what his fate could easily be, and knowing that he had the skill and talent to show or event, they bought him and brought him "home".  Kari rode him the night he came back.  Nick is a wonderful ride. He has a beautiful long, low trot and is a brave and consistent jumper. He has excellent ground manners and gets along well with other horses. He doesn't hesitate nor rush a fence. He is smart and loves to work.  He is a professional. Nick can be ridden by a confident novice. Nick loves attention.

Nick has been placed with M. & M. Vogt & family of PA
