Bright Futures Farm is an equine charity whose primary focus is off the track Thoroughbreds...horses that can no longer race due to disinterest or injury.  Our dedication has grown to include horses that are difficult to find homes for...older horses that are unwanted after their "useful years" are over, and older stallions that cannot be gelded due to the risk of complications.

We are always in need of foster homes.  When you foster a horse you help us save one more from harm.  Fostering expenses are tax-deductible.  If you have room, please ask us about our foster program.

Appaloosa

Daisy

1998 Appaloosa mare. 15 hands. Strawberry roan, blaze, two stockings, two socks.

Lightly ridden with no formal schooling prior to adoption, Daisy has nice ground manners and is a very sweet girl.  She has been ridden Western.  Daisy would make a great trail/pleasure horse.

Daisy has been placed with D. Smock of WV

Frick & Frack

25+ year old Appaloosa geldings. 16 and 15.1 hands.

Frick and Frack were on a hack line at a boarding/ schooling stable on Long Island.  It's time for them to semi-retire, and the barn manager wanted to find them a home, and the owner had only given her so much time to do so or they'd go to auction.  At that age, most likely the only place from there they'd go would be slaughter.

They are lovely beginner-type horses that are healthy and still ridden.  They are companions and cannot be separated.  Frack has lost sight in both eyes, but can still see out of his left somewhat.  He is not spooky, and can be ridden with other horses.   Frick is Frack's mentor and protector when they're together in the pasture.   Both are a dream to tack up and ride.  Frick can be ridden without Frack, but Frack should be stalled if Frick is going alone.

Thank you to the Barn Manager who moved them off the Island to Goshen today (6/5/09) where they will overnight before leaving for PA.

And, thank you once again to the Fans of Barbaro who have helped cover the cost to transport these wonderful old gentlemen "home".

Frick and Frack have been adopted by New Beginnings and B. Shope of IN
